{"id":2147,"date":"2024-11-05T16:37:40","date_gmt":"2024-11-05T16:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/holycrossgreekchurch.org.uk\/?p=2147"},"modified":"2024-11-05T16:37:41","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T16:37:41","slug":"the-synaxis-of-the-archangels-7-8-november-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holycrossgreekchurch.org.uk\/el\/church\/the-synaxis-of-the-archangels-7-8-november-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"The Synaxis of the Archangels &#8211; 7 &#038; 8 November 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Thursday 7 and Friday 8 November&nbsp;we will be celebrating the Synaxis of the Archangels&nbsp;feast day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every 8 November, we celebrate the Synaxis of the Archangels. \u2018The word&nbsp;synaxis means the gathering of believers to celebrate a feast, or to make a remembrance of a saint.\u2019 This feast celebrates the unity of angels and humans. You may have noticed the two towering icons on either side of the iconostasis as the congregation faces the altar. These are of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are starting with the&nbsp;<strong>Great Vespers&nbsp;<\/strong>at 18.00 on Thursday 7 November. This will be led by His Grace Bishop Raphael of Ilion. The&nbsp;<strong>Matins and Divine&nbsp;Liturgy<\/strong>&nbsp;will start at 09.00 on Friday 8 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We welcome His Grace Bishop Raphael of Ilion who will lead both of these services at our church.
